NHS Games
The NHS North West Games is an annual series of events to encourage NHS employees to come together to take part in a series of fun and friendly inter-Trust sport competitions.
Initiated by the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, the event first ran in 2011 and has had entry from over 20 NHS Trusts and thousands of NHS employees from across the North West of England over nine years. All events and activities are inclusive, allowing people of any age, ability or level of fitness to be able to take part.
The NHS North West Games is coordinated by a steering group of NHS Trusts and organisations, supported by MSP and Active Cheshire capacity in the planning, delivery and evaluation of events. Participating NHS Trusts and organisations each pay a small fee that is accumulated together to cover the cost of running the events, which means that participation for NHS staff is free (providing that their Trust has signed up).

Steps for Mental Health step challenge
Tuesday 10th September to Thursday 10th October 2024
In the lead up to World Mental Health Day discover how building more steps into your everyday routine can help boost your mental health.
Choose a target to suit you – from bronze (5,000 steps a day), silver (7,500 steps a day), gold (10,000 steps a day) to platinum (15,000 steps a day). All steps that you do inside and outside of work between the 10th Sep and 10th Oct (World Mental Health Day) count towards your personal challenge.
Swap the lift for the stairs, take a short walk over lunch and get off the bus or train one stop earlier – every step counts!
Log your steps via the NHS Games challenge portal – create an account via www.nhsgames.org.uk, then on the 10th September you can choose your target and start logging your steps!
